I don't know between him, franklin, (possibly) kelly, Gundy it feels like we're seeing a sea change in coaching hires with NIL. similar to how in the NFL your rivera/fox/lovie smith types are basically extinct and even the defensive guys getting hired now are expected to bring a pass happy OC rather than run the ball and control the game. 8+ wins and a .500 bowl record might be good for some schools but anyone in the top 20 is wanting more and faster.

Rhule's whole schtick is talking schools/dumbass NFL owners into a "long rebuild", so that your B minus season in year 3 either gets you an extension or a bigger job. You're probably right about Penn State being where the sidewalk would end for him, but he'll still get the massive buyout before going back to Baylor and repeating the grift. The guy is only 50, he's got another two decades of work and people have short memories.
