    Teams usually move on from them after the draft- keeps intel in house and gives them more time to find work as the scouting/free agency season is over. GMs get fired in line with the coaches cause they're the figurehead.

    Neither guy is involved in the draft process. Scouts and personnel directors are basically private investigators. Maybe Morgan got bad intel about certain FA signings, maybe they were just banging interns, or perhaps Tepper just needed another pound of flesh for all the money he's wasted. We can only speculate. Either way, they probably made this decision weeks ago. You do it now for reasons listed by Presidence99.

    There's a lot of asses on hot seats this year, which is unusual for a team that just hit rock bottom record wise. Usually that's followed by a Dan Campbell/John Fox "nothing to lose" year 1 vibe. This season doesn't have that vibe at all. The Panthers have the 4th oldest (wtf!) roster and they're top 10 in cash spending. That's a team that thinks it's a contender.
