So besides that find me one example of poor decision making from Sam Darnold

 

I'm just hoping he stays safe and doesn't bring it in and get others sick or vice versa

 

If you're looking for the guy who fits best within this offense (accuracy, consistency) it's probably Kedon Slovis. I like Sam Howell but the Panthers will probably be out of that range.


I guess one plausible scenario is Carolina winning in spite of Darnold, and then Carolina being dumb enough to give him a huge contract.

 

B&B what is so different between Slovis and Darnold that would make Slovis an upgrade probability?
I have seen very little of Slovis so I’m genuinely wanting input.
I would love for Carolina to have an effective placeholder in Sam for a couple of years then have a future “upgrade” in a cheaper rookie. .. but that word “inconsistent” is what separates journeyman from starter, and starter from elite.

 

My bet though is the NFL will go backwards with masks and vax papers and limited seating for games this fall.

 

It’s the threat of eventually needing vaccine documentation to be allowed to do ANYTHING that has me and my family very concerned. .. not just for football but possibly even for grocery stores. Will there be “document checkers” at every entrance? Sounds a lot like Nazi Germany doesn’t it?!

Accuracy and playing within the structure of an offense. He'll throw some terrible interceptions, but that's not uncommon for a QB prospect. Matt Ryan threw 29 picks over his final two years at BC, while Mahomes tossed 25 over his final two seasons at Texas Tech. That has more to do with reading defenses than inconsistent mechanics.


I don't think Slovis is a top 10 pick. I just think his skill set translates to Carolina's passing game, which is based on timing and accuracy. It's still a mystery to me how Darnold will fit, since he's an improvisational QB who often can't hit the broad side of a barn. He's like Tebow without the religious bullshit.
