the cables are a problem though. depending on what you have hooked to your tv you could have a shit load. i've got dvd/surrouond sound, xbox, ps2, wireless access point for gaming and that's alot of fucking wires. i also live on a slab with no attic above my living room so i'm kinda stuck with wires but i've hid them decently until we decide on a permanent spot for the tv. i've got a 51" sony rptv and other than it being big as hell, i haven't had any problems with it. oh yeah, and time warner does support hdmi now on their newest hd-dvr boxes. but, i'm probably switching to direct tv within the next month, so i'll just use their hdmi.

turns out it was totally unnecessary to buy anything. My PHAT Plasma can receive PAL and NTSC signals, no problem. But the new DVD player can upconvert to 1080i (like I care), is region-free, and supports DIVX. In about 3 months it'll all be replaced by a Windows Media Center box instead, but that's another thread...

Hold out on/for what? Are you going to setup a Windows Media Center PC to do all of your A/V stuff?
