    gov't owns the airwaves and places certain demands on the signals that travel them. gov't owns the roads and places certain demands on the cars that travel them. presumably, the gov't also owns the air and places certain demands on what can be emitted into it.

    Don't bother. No dvd sold today is anything other than standard DVD (480p at best). Just keep what you've got, that is unless it is not a progressive scan player. DVI connections should usually matter VERY LITTLE compared to component, so don't make that a critical criteria. But you should be wary of what kinds of connections you have on the TV to avoid having to buy a switch box or the like (if you have 4 DVI devices, most TV's can only support 1-2 of them directly, same with component and the like).

    HD-DVD is coming, but isn't here yet.

    rofl...you've lost oyur mind if you think a $37 dvd player puts out just a good a pic as a high dollar dvd....you should save your money and schedule an eye appointment instead.
