Wow. With the rebate, it's now sub $2k.

Unreal. I don't have the time or desire to deal with changing it now, but it's nice to know that when I do it will get done.

I'd kinda like to put the 42" in my office.:zaehne:

So many better buys on 1080p LCDs... not to mention the new Sammy plasmas which are better buys.

I cant believe how fanboy you guys are.

Flat Panel TV tech status report

    Yesterday: Plasma
    Today: LCD
    Tomorrow: SED

Congrats on buying dated technology. Don't believe me? Run down to your local big box store. They are now carrying up to 3 times as many LCD panels as Plasma screens. Plasma is on the way out.

Right to my wall. If I kept waiting for the next best thing I'd never get anything.

It's more like CRT version 2.0. The way I understand it is that it doesnt use that electron gun to illuminate the pixels like an old school tube tv. Instead, each individual sub-pixel is individually illuminated. It'll be a couple of inches thick, thicker than plasma and LCD, but supposedly still wall-mountable, fairly light, will consume less power than LCD, and will have the best, truest blacks and therefore entire color range of any of the "flat panel" HDs, and supposedly it'll be pretty cheap.

    Here's a more accurate description.

Toshiba is outsourcing their LCD production so they can make SED in their factories in Q1 2007. Couple of other mfgers coming online soon after.
