New England's sloppy play (penalties) killed them and they still scored. Yeah we played the best so far this year but if NE had been sharp...

NE's only offensive score came via a 70 yard pass play from a breakdown in our secondary. Other than that, we dominated.

I haven't bitched (publicly) and won't start now. I will ask that you repost this in December when we are all trying to figure the scenarios and who will have to lose for us to make the playoffs.

Games lost early will knock you out just as well as one in December. The Saints game may have cost us home field, you just don't know. We have the talent, both coordinators have admitted so, I think it is justified to expect more than we have seen from Jake, the offense, the defense, and coaching.

When your goal is to win by 3 (play games close, be in position to win in the last minutes) and have a qb like Jake, you run the risk of turnovers leading to losses. The qb or the philosophy needs to change. Personally, I prefer to stick with the qb and ditch the philosophy.

We were fortunate to catch NE looking ahead, Period.

See, that's where a knowledgeable person would have stopped. Turnovers do happen, but they aren't acceptable and they shouldn't simply be brushed off. There is no better predictor of whether or not you will win a game than your turnover margin. Not yards allowed, not points allowed, nothing. Turnovers are the key to winning in the NFL.

And for the record, I still think we're in decent shape. Back in May I had us losing one of the New Orleans games while splitting our next two, I just thought it would be New England instead of Miami. 1-2 is nothing to panic over, especially considering that we've barely lost both games despite playing like crap, but we do need to improve. That and I'm obviously sick to death of Jake's boneheaded decisions. I desperately want him to be the brilliant QB he was in the second half of last season.

Yes, and we stunk to high hell in turnovers in 2002. Still, the defense answered the bell.

It's almost like in 2003, when we finally got an offense, the defense took a deep breath and said "Whew, we can let off the gas a bit."

But try not to take my opinion as gospel, as you try to get many here to take yours as such.

I've repeated myself on this so much that it's beyond annoying, but we had almost exactly the same defensive statistics in 2003 that we had in 2002. Seriously, look it up for yourself.

Except for the margin of sacks, third down defense, rushing defense.
