Although I agree that NJ could have stolen game one, and the Lakers should cruise now, I don’t think the Nets played well at all. They played poorly, and LA played well enough to beat them. I may not watch game two. And Shack hits his free throws, and the Nets can’t? Was the game played in lala land?

McCullough can’t handle Shack. The Lakers may let one game slip due to boredom, but no more.

The nets played good enough to win the game if they'd have hit their FT's. I don't see how they could play much better unless they hit everything they threw at the rim. Kidd gets a triple-double, four starters in double figures (and one with 9 points). They only hit at 39%, but c'mon, they're playing the Lakers not the Clippers.

Yeah, they would have won if they'd hit more shots, super.

They had a lot of open looks, shots they usually make, and clanked. And then the free throws on top of that. Much like San Antonio in game 7. Just because it’s the Lakers is not an excuse for 39 percent, particularly when we are talking about wide open 12 footers. . They played better in the second half, but not great by any means.

Yeah, but many of those open jumpers were K-Mart. The Lakers were daring him to shoot. He put up 22 shots -- as many as Shaq did -- and missed 15 of them! Kittles, MacColloch, Harris, Jefferson, Williams, Collins, and Marshall combined to miss only 18. You can't possibly expect K-Mart to hit 50% on jumpers.

They actually hit 37 FGs -- exactly their average for the season. The got more offensive boards than the Lakers did, but of course they missed more shots than did the Lakers, so it's not suprising.

I just don't see how they could do anything different than they did last night. I suppose they could pray for Luscious Harris to go 10 for 10 or something, but I don't think it's realistic.

The Nets played well after the game got a bit too far away from them. They were like deer in headlights for a quarter and a half. Eliminating the fact that the Nets are/were happy to be there should help. If they come out staring at LA and get smacked again, then I might check the closet for the broom. I guess I expected this series to be a little closer though with Shaq's foot (?) troubles. Vlade Divac looks pretty good as a defender now huh?

Martin has no business shooting jumpers once they got into his head like that. Martin, Van Horn, and Kittles have to deliver or the Nets are toast because Shaq will average 40+ at this rate.

Shaq actually looked pretty energized out there. His mobility was way better than it was last series. Maybe his foot is getting better. Our perhaps they just don't have somebody that can contain him.

Vlade has ALWAYS played him well. Dunno why or how. Savvy I guess.... and acting. I suppose being in the League for years and years doesn't hurt either when you're looking for a call. He plays really good position defense on Shaq -- keeping him from catching too deep in the lane. Everybody else seems to try to shove him once he gets there or once he's got the ball.

If they were to call a foul everytime Shaq got two hands in the back, he'd end up shooting 50 FTs.
