I made a bet of UNDER 76.5 for the first round score.

i think she misses the cut -- and looks bad doing it.

i think her accuracy is what will kill her here. putt's right, that second shot will mess her up -- big-time. she wont be able to get on the green and survive.

If the course is a few yards further, then it's a few yards further for everyone...

Looking through the LPGA course yardages, they have played on mostly 6,300-yard courses. The Colonial will be 7,080 (though it is only a par-70 layout because it's not exceptionally long)

Annika is playing on a course that's about 800 yards longer than she used to playing. That's only about 40 yards longer per hole. She will be coming in to greens at a longer distance, but don't think she hasn't practiced that a little (or won't that week). Her long iron play will obviously need to be more accurate, but a short games is a short game and the ability to chip and putt is important. If she can hit a tee shot 280 or 290 (some reports have her hitting that far), then she will still be a mid-iron to the green, which most good golfers can do with a great deal of accuracy.

I think she will make the cut, but be far enough back to be a non-factor on Sunday. She will make a good showing for herself if her game is on, but she is not long enough to get some eagles and win the thing. Remember the field is a little smaller and more exclusive, so this is not a regular tour stop.

Plenty of good golfers have bad weeks, so that should be allowed. I think if she plays four straight PGA events, she makes the cut in two or three if she plays like she did last year.

she averages 275.4 off the tee.

let me also say that her finish (good or bad) should say nothing about women vs. men. she's not doing this for the lpga or women's rights or martha burk or anyone -- she's doing it for herself. the lpga tour isn't challenging her enough, so she's gonna test herself at the next level.

The Colonial is not a long course. If Tiger would keep his driver in his bag he would do alot better. I have played the course, it is definitely a stategy course.

I think it's good to point out she's not tooting the horn of femininity, women's rights, and especially Martha Burk. Good point indeedy! This, in the next few days could turn into a bra burning free-for-all for the womenazi's hoping to ride her coattails (or driver) into the push for all sorts of hugely important things (like a woman's "right" to be a member at the ANGC). I, for one, will have a sly grin if she pitches past the cut... but still remain grounded and take the play for what it's worth. :p

I frankly think its bullshit... people can call me sexist all they want, but I couldn't go play on the LPGA tour why does she get to play on the PGA tour? If there were only one league for both men and women it'd be different, but there are different divisions... its like the Lakers sayiong one day "You know what I think we'll play in the Atlantic Division" that's bullshit plain and simple... I hope she embarasses herself for that reason alone.

I said it in the other thread that was started about this--She has not earned and has no right to take a spot away from anyone unless she plays her way in. If she makes the cut then she has taken money away from someone that has paid their dues day in and day out. I would also say the same thing about anyone that does not have their tour card and would be given a spot because of notoriety. She can start at the bottom just like all the other men start or have started at one time.
Even though the Colonial would be an average of only 40 yards more per shot for her, those of us that play golf know what a 40 yard difference can make. The spot that she will be given belongs to someone that worked their ass off on courses a lot longer to earn the opportunity to be there.
I say that she should have to play her way in . If she can compete and thinks she has a chance then why would she want to accept a free ride.

Here's what Vijay had to say about it--not agreeing with him--just relaying his message--Singh told The Associated Press that Sörenstam had no business playing in next week's Colonial and said that on the odd chance he gets paired with her, he'd withdraw.
