How was 2 first rounders for Gilbert not a bust?

    I didn't say it wasn't, I just said you forgot them:D

But he is still playing and he has been healthy for the most part. He's not exceeded expectations, but he's not a complete failure either.

I think if we could take it back, we would. That was a bust.

Miami was smart. Apparently they were bidding in the $40 mil range, but got quiet once the word "compensation" was brought up. In retrospect, if we absolutely had to make the pick:

*give up the 14 pick. They wanted it, we could have given it up. Then the second round pick needed to go to linebacker or guard/tackle. Wiley in the third still makes sense as he was a 3-4 guy and a good run stopper, but Marrow made little sense. Jamie Duncan would have been a better pick.

With the 5th overall in 1999 they could have done a number of things, even without the tradedowns. The top ten pick in 2000 would have gotten them a defensive playmaker or a back.

I can sacrifice the 14 pick in my mind more more than I could the two #1s, and felt so even back then.
