I prefer the AMD processors. My question is, is the new AMD XP worth it or stick with an Athlon?

    Specifically 1.47MHz AMD XP 1700PR.

Yes but make sure you get a good motherboard.

Abit, Asus makes some of the best. I have an Abit myself.

    Here's what I just ordered:

    AMD 1.47 XP
    40GB Harddrive
    256MB Ram
    64MB GeForce 2MX 400
    CDRW
    Zip
    4 Channel Sound Card
    WinXP
    18" Flat Panel

    yadda, yadda, yadda...

Any recommendations on the video card? I had an ATI All-In-Wonder RageII. I'm thinking maybe I should take a good look at the Radeon. Any thoughts? I'm not a gamer. DH does photography...

That is a great card. Best thing out there IMO unless you want to spend $400 for a the new 128mb geforce card that is about to hit the market.
