It's obviously a ploy by the Panthers to win back all those Clemson fans they've alienated over the years.

I think this gives them leverage to try Seward at SLB.

I think it's more likely that Seward and Adams would battle for WLB. I think you basically assume that Thomas Davis will be given one of the starting spots to lose, so that leaves the other two battling for the remaining position. Given that I don't see Adams at SLB and Seward's earlier comments about possibly replacing WW, it seems WLB is the more likely position at which those two could compete for the starting job. Hopefully TD won't suck at SLB as much as I expect him to.

    PP:
He started for Philadelphia some last year. He's more of a coverage LB and a great special teams player, but he's capable of contributing in the base defense at WLB.

I don't know why, but I am warming up to the idea of drafting Thomas Howard

Howard would basically duplicate Adams. If anything, we'd be better off adding another bigger linebacker.

wouldn't be awful to re-sign Short to fill us out completely, though this gives us 7 LBs that would be able to theoretically make a roster if you consider Tufts as a rostered player and not a guy we cut till Seward was hurt. If a WLB's there we absolutely love, then Adams and Ciurciu fight for that 6th spot; if a SLB's there, Seward backs him, and Davis has a veteran backup and Ciurciu's SOL. Or we do nothing and we're allright.

I don't mind it. Kinda dig it, for cheap money. Adams isn't great, but he gives us options, and somewhat importantly, he gives us a veteran to stick in the nickel packages if nothing else; otherwise, we have Davis and Morgan as our only options.

in a strange way, this would make picking Manny Lawson at #27 ok.
