Who would you compare him to in the league and what kind of money would it take to keep him?

    Swimmingly. Worth a repeat posting.

I don't think LaFell is a star because I don't think he can beat a lot of #1 corners. It's not like he isn't valuable.

I think he's a lot like Moose. Muhammad was more productive both on and off the field, but I don't know if most realize that he only had three 1,000 yard seasons during his storied career. In terms of modern players, Hakeem Nicks has really similar numbers across the board when adjusted for targets, with the caveat of Nicks' larger sample size offset by LaFell being a dramatically better blocker. Of the two I would rather have LaFell because of the blocking. BL being marginalized in this offense should keep his price down but I'm really bad at guessing contracts. I'd be really surprised if he made less than three million per season or more than seven.

If the Panthers decide to keep him then I hope you're right about on the price being down. With his body of work there is no way I'd pay him more than 3 mil a year. Blocking is great, but it shouldn't be all he is known for

What you're known for and what you're actually good at are two very different things. A lot of NFL players have inaccurately favorable or unfavorable reputations. The numbers show that LaFell is clearly an above average wide receiver without even considering his blocking, then you can legitimately debate how much above average.

Moose was always at his best when he was going deep.
