Could Rucker play inside? Probably not, but Wallace and Peppers wouldnt be a bad set of pass rushing DEs.

Rucker could probably play inside better than Wallace could, but it's not something you'd want every down. Occasionally having all 3 out there? Sure. I do think it's both odd and somewhat telling that as underwhelming as Rucker has been for the better part of 17 games now (his QB pressures notwithstanding), that Wallace hasn't played much at all, and Wallace certainly can't play DT, even just to rush.

I still don't have a clue as to why Ellison was cut (I assume there was a good reason), but he's the only guy we have who has the physical tools to collapse a pocket at DT. He looked quite a bit like Jenkins to me, although a bit less agile, so I still think he can be our saving grace if he can correct whatever caused him to be released in the first place.

Apart from Fox's "both are possibilities" in answer to whether they'd look at vet free agents or bring Ellison back, do we have any indication that they are, in fact, planning to put Ellison on the roster? Seems like it might be wishful thinking at this point, first that he comes back and second that he'd be effective (or even activated on gameday). It sounds more to me like they plan to stand pat (with Moorhead activated obviously).

What's this crap in the Observer about Castens? Is Moorehead hurt?

As ineffective as Rucker's been the last 18 months, I'm starting to wonder if this might be a good idea. We're paying Wallace starter money anyway, right? Need to do something to light Mike's fire...

Haven't they tried some of this? I'm thinking a few times last year maybe?

I say put Wallace @ LDE and move Peppers back to SLB and let him get up a head of steam going to the QB. Who's going to be able to get in his way?

no...I don't think they're morons...I'm just saying if they have to account for where Peppers is before the play, that's one more thing. Obviously Pep is going to draw the double team, so where he lines up is going to move the TE or whatever.

And I don't care who the best LT in footballl is, they ain't blocking Peppers

if Ruck is going against the LT one-on-one, and Pep is getting double teamed on the other side...if you put Pep at the other end, he still going to draw the double team, but Rucker would be singled up against a lessor player...

I have never seen Olinemen get confused, it's a pretty easy job, let's just keep it as easy for them as we can. :banginghe
