It will be worth it to keep this offensive line together.

I heard that the deal is final and will be announced tomorrow. He is going to sign a 7 year $55 million contract with $22 million guaranteed.

Cap hit for this next year would be $6.5 million.

Gross is not worth the money, but it still might be worth doing if only to get something out of Peppers.

That's only $7.85 million per - less than Faneca last year.

I say only b/c of what we and the media expected.

Still, looking at an OL that can play together for multiple years is consolation for overpaying him.

edit to add: Intact OL, running game, will make it a lot easier to stick a younger QB in there.

I'm happy with it, especially if we can get a first and a 3rd for peppers.

Gross is Gross. I like he stepped up at LT, I like that he's very durable ( Wharton, our option if we lost him, is not durable, and neither is Otah ), and I like that we got him for less than $8 million per.

If we can get a first and 3rd for peppers, that's kinda like getting a bottle of vicodin as consolation for getting a hand bitten off by wolverines, but it's better than nothing.

Kinda like we gave up Peppers for Otah, a third, and a bunch of cap space.

It's 6 years, not 7, so slightly over 9 million per season.
