80's bands?

Who were some of your favorite bands in the 80's? While I pretty much stayed away from the typical hair bands but I did like Whitesnake. Midnight Oil was ok as far as a one hit wonder. Above all Van Halen was great

I really dont look at Van Halen as a "80's Band" but your right they were awesome.

Hmmm...some of my fav's

Whitesnake I really liked
Dokken I liked alot
Ratt was pretty cool
Motley Crue had some good tunes
Slaughter had one or two that I liked
Winger did a few decent songs

Thats enough Hair Bands for me...


I wasnt even in my teens in the 80's so cut me some slack.

Not a bad list pain but also The Police, The Cars, The Go-Go's, Huey Lewis and the News, Journey. I saw the Police at the Scope in Norfolk Va. august 16, 1982, the opening band was REM. Awesome show

Hard to argue with the Police and Go-Go's. I just started out with Hair Bands as the 80's were their hey day. Motley Crue was pretty good. I liked a few of their songs. Could not stand Poison though. Foreigner was good. I remember in the course of 1 week I say Billy Idol and Billy Joel with Joe Jackson, great from two totally different types of music.

Def Leppard, The Outfield, 38 Special, were all pretty damn good bands. Alot of diversity from the 80's...Made the 90's look incredibly stale by comparison. And if you're naming hair bands, how could anyone forget TESLA? One of the greatest live bands I've ever seen.
