Two of my children have laptops and I'm going to hook them up with a wireless network. I have 3, 2.4 GHz phones in the house. Will the interference be a real aggravation? Should I just toss the phones or is there another solution?
Thanks in advance for the replies!

Shouldn't, but depends. 802.11 is a protocol within the 2.4ghz range. I've been selling 2.4ghz wireless computers since 1996 - but they were all different protocols.

    Sorry that doesn't help.

The phones will be the smae frequency as the wireless card. If you're on the phone in between the router and a computer it will cause interference

Should I go with 802.11a or get phones with a different frequency? The 2 kids I'm talking about are teenagers, so the phone is in use ALOT. And I guess I'm also asking what will the interference be? Will it cut the internet connection? Mess with the phone clarity? Both?

Your (wireless) connection will cut in and out like a cell phone or flakey dial up. I went with Panasonic 5.8 GHz phones because of this. They cost me a damned fortune, but they are ridiculously clear and long-ranged, and they don't ever interfere.

    Here's what I bought.

Unfortunately, all of the current wireless standards broadcast at 2.4 GHz, so changing your phones is the only option for compatability.
