interesting comment on Rip Scherer while at Cleveland having to deal with Ore St Vs ND QB controversy (Anderson Vs Quinn). Now Scherer could have the same deal with Moore Vs Clausen

The only things I don't like about this pick are: this pick isn't going to start in 2011 unless something goes awfuly wrong, and that the pick means Christian Ponder won't be a Panther in 2012 unless something goes catastrophicly wrong.

Other than that, I'm ok with it. Really need an exciting Smitty type pick in the third, though.

Surprised by this pick but I can not argue with it. He was a top ten pick in a lot of mocks. To get him at 48 is pretty awesome.

Hell yea. I can't believe some are down on this pick. I read that article on ESPN by Yas. I think he's dead on in everything he wrote.

He also said the Panthers were trying to trade up to the top of the second to get Clausen but didn't have the ammo. Shows they really wanted him. Throw in they've never been really high on Moore (whom I do like), the Charlie connection and boom, new franchise QB who could easily be starting by next year.

So Moore is only playing under a one-year tender....implications?

Does it mean Clausen gets more time on the field so we know what we have by the end of the season? If it's clear that Clausen is the future we let Moore walk...that's fairly obvious. BUT what if we do the patient/conservative/Fox thing and Moore starts all year and plays fairly well? Then we have a bit of a conundrum....

ah hell for all we know edwards is the future. maybe clausen sits all year and becomes trade bait next year. maybe moore lights it up and we go 19-0. or maybe it doesn't matter and we run 40 times a game. if moore blows chunks, i wonder if we hear fox croak out with that raspy voice that “matt gives us the best chance to win” and if that does happen, if somewhere far away, maybe ohio, delhomme cries a single tear, like that indian in the old littering commercial.

Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer reports that shortly before leaving the Los Angeles area to fly to Charlotte for his first minicamp with the Carolina Panthers earlier this week, quarterback Jimmy Clausen ran an errand for wide receiver Steve Smith.

Smith sent Clausen a text message telling the rookie to be sure to bring some Catcus Cooler sodas with him to Carolina.

Catcus Cooler, an orange and pineapple flavored soda, is available only in California and Arizona.

Wonder if he will start as a rookie? Or just sit back for the next couple of games until it is that time?!
