The Hornets lose their first game of the season. An 11 point loss in OT to the Celtics.
Ball fouled out with some time left in the OT.
Mason Plumlee is probably the worst free thrower the Hornets ever had starting.
This stiff makes Biz look like Mark Price.
    Still a great game.

The Hornets are on a bad trend. They seem to sleepwalk the first half of a lot of their games.
Then they always seem to have a big hole to climb out of in the second half.
It's frustrating to watch and easy to tune out at halftime.
Tonight they are down by 25 and it's only midway through the 2nd quarter.
The defense is nonexistent and no inside presence at all. I'm not seeing any value in Plumlee at all.
Rozier and Oubre continue to liabilities on both ends of the court.
When is it time to start looking at the coaching staff for the poor spurts?

Wow. That was just a fucking embarrassment.
The Hornet were out rebounded by 28!
No pro team should ever be out rebounded by 28.
Of course no pro team should ever lose by 30 fucking points.
The Hornets had a couple bright spots.
Hayward scores 25, but did very little else.
The one true real bright spot was Lamello Ball with 13 assists, 24 points and only 2 TOs.
The Sac Kings will have to fumigate their building because of the stench of the Hornet's effort.

"They're a fast ream, they put a lot of pressure on you and they were knocking down shots," Hayward said. "It seemed like they were getting just about anything they wanted. We have to figure it out."

    No shit...

A new Hornets' made three record.
They hit 23 out of 40 attempts. Holy shit.
They took a game total 88 shots and 40 of them were 3 attempts.
They beat the Timberwolves 133-115 at the Hive.

Well a 24 point loss to a middle of the road Dallas without their star Luka.
Dallas set a season record for 3s in this game. It seems there seems to be quite a few Hornets' opponents that set records for 3s against this team.
It's not a rare thing. It's a common occurrence that has to have at least one reason.
    Is it the players?
    Is it scheme?
    Is it coaching?
Not necessarily Barrego, but the assistants that he delegates to that do the actual teaching.
Is it that pros don't take to teaching because they believe the team's troubles fall on someone else's shoulders?
Consistently missing defensive assignments for good chunks of every game has to fall on someone.
Even the players know, from post-game interviews, that solid defense leads to a more smooth running offense. Then again everyone is talking a good game, but way too times there are too many open or undefended looks at the basket for the opponents.
What is it that makes great players great? There has to be an inner switch that has been turned on for them. They all can run, jump and shoot, but what gives the extra desire to win?
All the greats have it, but the vast majority never find it. Are they happy enough just to reach the NBA?
Is it an individual confidence thing?
Do they even care to be try to be better? The best?
Can they even attempt it in a team sport where the coach just gives them tasks to perform?
The Hornets have yet to find the balance between players, coaching, scheme.
Given the marketplace, it's going to have to fall fall on the luck in the draft.
The chinks in any championship run seems to always be ego, money, greed.
I don't know what it's going to take for the local team, but they are a distance away currently.

The Hornets outscored the Blazers by 17 in the second half of their game last night, but still lost the game by 9.
One thing of note is Hayward set a season high for himself in the previous game of 41. He had 6 in this contest on 2-8 shooting and no FT attempts. The fact that he had almost as many TOs as he did points is puzzling and disappointing.
Terry Rozier was 1-10 and no free throw attempts.
Melo's first game back was solid and Cody Martin is turning out to be Mr. All Around Steady.
