My only problem with that article is that it's 11 years old. It seems predicted on base offense vs base defense. This is long, long before the rise of RPO shotgun plays. It's also before teams starting isolating their best speed rusher over a guard in obvious pass situations. Right now I'd say the most important position is center, just because defenses are much more challenging pre snap compared to 2008. If you can't set the protection right, it almost doesn't matter how talented the five guys are.

He's got more recent stuff where he basically makes the same claim, that RG is a lot harder than LG and the C position is physically the easiest, but requires the most intelligence. I'm just a fan, so I can't really dispute what he writes and I haven't seen a counter argument to his stuff that makes sense yet.

Defensive coordinators are cracking the code on how to isolate the once "protected" positions. That's all I'm pointing out. I would need to read more of his recent stuff to form an actual counter argument.

The draft is loaded with pass rushers. I keep reading the Panthers trade down but if we stay and a desirable tackle and an edge rusher are staring at us who do you for?

I think you take the best player available. Free agency is the time to augment immediate needs. The draft is about investing in the future.

So it depends on Hurneys preference of OT or De.

Need and BPA will probably intertwine. The early run on mediocre quarterbacks will work in our favor.

The pick will be Dillard or Sweat. If neither is available, it *might* be Burns, but otherwise Hurney will look to trade down.

BPA at that position might be a linebacker. We don't need that shit.

Shaq has one year left and Kuechly is a concussion magnet.
