I like him better on that side, but Diggs still has two years on contract and is only 30. He can play the weakside, and if we did fail to re-sign Davis after 2009, he could fit there too, but for next year he's the MLB depth.

We'll be losing two of our six, one by choice, and that elevates Anderson to a more prominent role. I guess he can handle that, but he shouldn't be backing strongside, so maybe we find a guy that fits that role anyway.

Has Anderson done a single thing to earn continued conversation?

Good thing we won't have any top tier needs, since we'll have no top pick, and probably no money after dealing with Pep and Gross.

Yeah, I know about Connor but what's he proven? We'll need some competition there at the least.

My fear is that we draft him and he is able to keep his number from college...

he's under contract another year, so he'll probably be in our top 5 LBs. He had a good preseason in 2007 at WLB but got played at MLB where he was awful. He's barely broken the seal on his jersey this year, to boot.

But he should be amongst our top 5 non-specialists so he's worth the depth conversation. Whether he and Connor are enough, I don't know. To continue the conversation on Connor's theoretical future, I don't know if he can be an every down linebacker. Which is fine, just as not every LB has to be Beason (what a fun defense that'd be). But right now a strength of our defense is having two guys out there who can play every down. If we let Davis go after 2009, I'd as well draft another guy who can make plays.

Either way, Connor will have a year of sitting with that knee injury and being our depth before we'd need to worry about starting him anywhere.

Wonder what they are thinking of Schwartz and Bernadeu. Both are projects, but they seem to like Bernadeu but he's smaller and I'm guessing a backup center for us. I wouldn't mind OG late in the 2nd. I think we could also go CB depending on what we do with Lucas and Marshall's agent making it seem like he's def. testing free agency. We have young players we draft late (CJ Wilson, Schwartz, Bernadue Hayden) but if some better value presents itself we need to pounce.

at any rate, this was started with the ideal of prospects. So, anyone have anything on prospects not named Tebow?
