yeah, because we certainly went best player available last year eh? Mos Def. Fo Shizzle. Bruce Nelson was the best player on the board. Or something.

They must have more than just the West Coast scout, right?

Must be Kirk Chambers. 3 year starter, LT, but he went on a mission and is 24. Hard worker and smart, and I guess athletic enough to be a backup in the league, but I don't know that he's what I'd be thinking of.

I assume that all this talk of right tackles is with the mindset that we will be moving Gross to left tackle next year and parting ways with Stuessie. I would not have a problem with that since his new nick name is False Startessie but are we going to be able to do that and not have a lot of cap problems. IMHO we need a free agent corner and wide out in free agency.

Well, having read it would have suggested that many of us were talking about switching the two and keeping them both. I honestly have to question anyone who'd say that a third or fourth round player would outperform the average former Pro Bowler.

Who still has a lot to give. If he's not a leader in the locker room, his media presence seems to imply that he is.

I started doing my draft database this week and have only gotten through QB and RB. Neither position really applies to the Panthers needs right now...THANK GOD!
Last year, I thought this QB class would be just as good. Now, Outside of Manning, Rivers, Rothlesberger (likely to return for Sr year) and Mauck, I see a large number of NFL back-ups, projects and camp fodder. There are some potential Sleepers in guys like Rutherford (Mobile as hell), Whittmore (unknown til this year) and Dinwiddie (another unknown with great numbers the last 2 years), but each has his questions. Still look for J-Lo to be solid NFL QB, but his weight really hurts his credibilty on draft day.
The RB crop is rather small in stature. Few Big backs exist in the top tier, much like last year. Michael Turner, Chris Perry and Tatum Bell would be the type of guys most will covet while guys like Quincy Wilson, Derrick Knight and Cadilac Williams will be those smaller guys that will be in the top tier. Even smaller yet are the Shaud Willimas' and Freddie Russell's who will find themselfs slipping due to a lack of size.

I thumbed through some Mocks and am seeing mostly Robinson or Vasher, but a few have us going with Losman at QB?
I would be on board with Robinson, I am not a big fan of small DB's and Vasher is smaller.
As far as QB's go, I like Losman, but don't see the Panthers drafting a QB in round 1, too many other needs to draft a bench guy right now. Maybe a third rounder, project type guy would be OK. Third round isn't a bad place to take a risk on a developmental prospect.

I like Losman. A lot. He's got some great tools.

But certainly, no, we don't need that guy. And while it'd be fun to have a project I don't know that we'll have the ability to develop said player.

I watched Losman a couple of games this year. He looks the part to be sure, but manages not to wow me with his results.

At this point I would rather have Matt Schaub, Jeff Smoker, or even Bradlee Van Pelt as a project QB. Not that I am sure any of these guys will pan out, just that the place they will be drafted (day 2) lends them more to being the 3rd guy with the clipboard role that I think Losman and all of these other players will be religated to.
