I don't know that you can just push Manning back to nickel - it'd be nice, but I think he's got enough skill to get an extended look.

Nonetheless, FA and then a 3rd or 4th returner/CB wouldn't be bad. If we can come up with something of great value in the first or second like Hall, all the better, as long as we can fill other needs behind them.

It wouldn't be bad to pick and choose from amongst receiver. Just find a good place for one, but not make it a huge need. A damn solid guy like Woods or Evans would be nice, but if a guy like Berrian fell to the third we'd be crazy not to go there. Again, return skills in a backup that can develop would be great.

Still feel roughly the same, overall. Still want a starting TE, starting corner; still want to go for backup RT to develop and a linebacker.
But I want a linebacker who can cover, so we can get Morgan off the field for passing downs.

    Speaking of CBs...

I decided that beyond QB its the most scrutinized position in the league. Even the best CBs in the NFL get beat. Ty Law was beaten a few times in the Super Bowl as was Manning Jr, repeatedly. Before the game they were hyped unbelievably. In truth, our CBs are decent but we've got to remember that this is a league full of decent CBs. Very few corners have seperated themselves (Bailey and McAlister to name a few) as superior corners. Those 2 are probably franchise players this offseason and both were high 1st rounders. Decent corners are ok IMO. I'd like an upgrade too and will take it but we aren't dire at CB.

    Drew Henson worth a 2nd?

I personally believe any QB with his talent is worth a second - even if you wait a few years. That said, I don't think we'll go get him but who here feels Henson is worth a 2nd rounder?

Would you risk trading for him now and have him enter the draft again and lose his rights? Or wait to grab him in the draft?

Personally, I'd wait till the draft and move on him there if I wanted him. He'd be worth our 2nd rounder in a second.

as in Carolina or as in general "this is what I'd do with generic team"?

I'd wait a certain distance, but there'll likely be a move on him in the space around the third week of march or the second week of april.
Night before the draft is somewhat rare but still applicable - I feel like he'll go to Pittsburgh or Buffalo right now.

Mainly meant in general. I think Oakland may have something to say about Henson. Getting him for their second means they can grab the best player, Fitz, at #2 and pass on Roth or Manning.

If I'm Oakland, I'd consider that highly. No way in hell you find a QB with Henson's raw skill level in round 2.

I have been trying not too over hype guys - esp. unproven guys that haven't played for a while, but when Henson came out of Michigan he just about had it all as a QB prospect. He isn't a great scrambler but a good athlete with an absolute cannon arm. Good accuracy too. He might be a franchise guy in a few years.

Good call. Parcells is probably also drooling to get a shot at Henson. Either Oakland or Dallas will go get him.

I know Henson hasn't played in a while, but I really have no doubt he'll be a good to great QB in the league. He has more skill than half the guys starting in the league now.

He is very worth a 2nd, and someone might even grab him in the first. Honestly, I agree that he was a probable #1 pick in the draft before he chose baseball. I think he'll be a starter after a season of learning/practice.

John Elway comes to mind as a comparision.

Physically, Henson is a lot like Elway. The baseball thing doesn't hurt, either; and it seems like QBs who play baseball have excellent footwork. Really good. And somewhat deceptive running ability...I'd even put Weinke in there. Chris could motor when he had to.
I think that guys who play baseball tend to gain a little on the arm, too.

I dunno if Bill would trade for a guy like that. I don't know that he'll be around long enough for Henson to really get going.

Al Davis has been known to make moves like this in the past. Not sure if Norv Turner would agree but Henson could be a great one down the road and they have Gannon for the interium.

Henson for the 2nd to go with Fitz at #2 should like a good plan for Oakland.
