I like Ware from a physical standpoint. He's raw at CB or S and would need time to learn. He's got similar physical tools to Sean Taylor but no where near the awareness atp. Course, thats what makes Taylor so special. With his range if you don't locate him as a QB, you better get ready to do some tackling.

Agreed. Nothing against Ware, but I don't want to start a rook at such an important position if I can help it, at least not such a cerebral one.

I don't want to start him at Cb, I wanna veteran to start while Ware play's nickle for a year.

Haven't seen him enough to comment. Vet CB makes since too me as well. Shoot, Terrence Newman was lit up this season which goes to show that most rookie CBs get picked on. (wow, how good was that Manning jr pick! :D )

Newman and Trufant were picked on. Of course, it seemed like overall defensive backfield play went down for each team relative to that, not unlike Manning's good play coincided with better play in Carolina's. Not to blame problems nor overshadow good play, but there's plenty to suggest that each team's philosophies had their surgent points and their waning ones as well.

Spencer? Size is obviously a plus, doesn't make a lot of plays on the ball, but can be physical. Athletic as you can expect from a player that size, experienced, but hard to say whether he can be flexible and able to make the turn at the pro level. Probably a career nickel - a tough-nosed player who plays on ST coverage and returns some kicks, plays the slot nickel and a lot of zone. But certainly, not totally limited to that. Could be a Marcus Coleman - type underrated corner who emerges. Works very hard, I don't see reason to doubt his intelligence, but nothing jumps out at me either.
Overall, still, someone will get him looking for size.

Who would you expect to start at safety while Ware learns?

Minter and Grant (or Grant's FA Replacement) I'm figuring Ware for CB opposite Manning in 2 years

Ahh. Somewhere down the line I mistook your comments for Ware as a long term safety. Which would work for the prospect, just not my personal tastes at FS.
    Certainly, a very viable option.

I'd agree on the young CBs. I have little doubt that Newman and Trufant will both be good corners in the league.

I like Batman as a sleeper CB later but if Will Poole drops to us, I'd jump on him immediately. Truthfully, I think Poole is the best CB in the draft when I look at the whole package. D. Hall could be T. Law someday but he's really raw as a corner right now. Gamble is raw too but I like the skills. I think Poole is a better tackler than Strait and can bring it bigtime on the corner blitz. Will Poole can flat out play and doesn't have many flaws.

    Batman

I like Batman myself, Hall reportedly has nothing "upstairs" and is just tall and athletic, I'd pass on him. Strait could pure lit up and the Senior bowl and worse then that in my eye's is he tried to become a play maker to atone for it (trying to strip balls instead of making tackles etc..) Agree 100% on Poole.
I sure wish Robinson had played in the Senior Bowl.
