It frustrates me to no end, honestly. It's incredible how this team can be so obvious about what they're doing and yet be hard to read. Maybe it's just suspension of disbelief.
So now I'm just worried they're going to find a third round tackle who's played tight end before, draft him at the end of the first, and play him at tight end.

What about 2 tackles in the backfield like that formation we ran against the eagles? I can see a couple LBs getting leveled. So basically, we need tackles and guards for all three first day picks, then we grab unheard of DBs and big WRs with hands of stone on day 2. Sounds like a plan. :D

Then we convert Brad Hoover to MLB, and Cooper to a receiving TE. But it still basically boils down to limiting mistakes and executing. :D

Well, it does boil down to those things, but luckily we didn't write 1500 words of describing a player's role and coming to that conclusion. :D

Otherwise, fucking stop. That's gonna give them ideas. I'll give them credit though, they didn't draft guard-turned-FB Wes Ours.

Mags, can't disagree on the TE or WR comments. Assuming Fields returns we would be talking backup to replace Favors - who isn't terrible - I'd agree that an upgrade at WR or TE makes a lot of since. Can't argue with more weapons. OL could be addressed in FA at a reasonable price - esp at G.

If thats the case, Lee Evans is quite similar to Smith IMO. He doesn't have Smith's agility and isn't quite as explosive - but Evans does have good speed and is quite reliable with his hands. You don't see him get caught from behind very often and his ball skills are impressive. He'd be a nice addition.

Can't see Clayton or Woods making it to us that late, so its Evans, Troupe or maybe Jenkins as targets. Jenkins' stock seems to be rising too. For raw talent - I still like Wilford as a deep threat but he'd need a few seasons to develop.

Based on what we know of the Fox/Henning draft "rules" Evans injury history would likely exclude him from consideration. as for the rest, I think we'll be in the unigue position of actually taking BPA. for no reason then as you've said we have no "pressing draft need"

I'd figure, CB LB, or WR would be the "look and see" shopping list for the #32 pick.

I can't even begin to consider TE until I see what they do in FA.

Problem is, none of this is relevant if we're waiting for FA. Certainly, corner is a critical FA spot, as well as talking about safeties.
But TE, I guess, was the one spot assumed that nothing greater would be brought in through FA. Hope so, because like I've said I don't want to be looking to fill a starter's hole with a #1.

    Agreed,

    Agree'd (I think)

Just that I think we can safely assume what they'll do in FA with regards to getting a veteran CB, and resigning our own. But, they really seem to like Mangum and despite our feelings towards his ability I have no "gut" whether they'll resign him or not, same for Wigg's. So I can play the draft game comfortably with the rest, With TE..I just gotta wait and see..

Thats part of the reason I think Matt Ware is such a perfect pick for us..

Yep, plus I think we started talking TE because a few of us here see Troupe as a bigtime player with a chance of slipping down a bit. He's got all you look for in a great TE and we are average at best there.

Evans was injuried but he's returned to form in a big way. I'm as cautious as anyone but he looked like he regained much of, if not all of his prior speed. I've also read that the guys work ethic to come back from injury was nothing short of amazing, which counters previous knocks about his character. Evans proved to me that he's a really good player and maturing. I think they'd consider him.

I personally like Lee Evans a lot. He's similar to Smitty, in that he's got some speed and he's big for his frame, but he takes it a step further. He seems strong, and he's of course a few inches taller.
Seems to be the complete player. I'd definitely love to see him here.
As I would with Troupe, obviously. I don't think we're necessarily going to see but so often that big, but somewhat fast, TE who can be exactly what we wish for in a TE.

I'm not going to play games with the draft/FA thing.
