Stop manipulating the overall point, Collin. Overall defense. That's how it's looked at. That includes points allowed btw.

No, it doesn't. It means yards only, as that's the traditional ranking.

    Panthers

    PPG 21.1 ranked 19th
    YPG 400 ranked 6th
    YPP 6.2 ranked 6th
    1st down PG 21.4 ranked 8th
    3rd down conversion Pct 40% ranked 10th
    4th down conversion Pct 50% ranked 9th
    Penalty yards 659 ranked 2nd
    TOP 30.27 ranked 11th
    TO margin -4 ranked 24th

While PPG is the end all be all. It's more a measure of the effiency of the offense. There are a lot of other factors as well when judging the offense such as the two in bold above - penalty yards and the TO margin. Also the average starting field position as compared to other teams, which we know the Panthers suck when it comes to this since we don't have a KR/PR game to speak of. While part of the red zone problems and/or PPG are on Newton, a lot of it is on the team. There have been a lot of critical penalties in the red zone(just not sure how that ranks compared to other teams). I just know we are 2nd in that overall which sucks and MUST fucking stop.

The team has 12 penalties for 90 yards this season in the red zone, which does seem like a lot, although two of those were on fourth downs before field goal attempts. The offense has 338 total penalty yards this season, including a lot of holding penalties the last three games.

Yeah, I would be curious as to the breakdown of penalties between the 20s, the red zone and inside their own 20 and how that stacks up compared to other teams, namely the top offensive teams.
