third in the NFL...had 90 fewer carries than AP and 102 fewer than turner. he's a stud...and was a pleasure to watch. runs his ass off on every carry.

Peterson may have had more carries but he also faced better run defenses and did a whole lot better than williams against the top rush defenses. Vikings played four games against teams that rank in the top 10 in the NFL against the run; the panthers had three. Peterson averaged 109 yards in those games; Williams averaged 55. Peterson did what he did against defenses that stacked the line to stop him. At least Williams plays on a team that has a better than average passing attack to keep defenses honest.

Williams faced every NFC north team and a much better NFC south.

NFC south was terrible against the run. probably the worst in the NFL.

pretty easy to stop the run when your division has one team that can pass and one team that didn't win a game.

is it pretty easy to stop the run when you're playing four of the top six rush offenses outside of your division? I don't think Carolina managed 50 yards.

FWIW, those three games DW played against the top ten rushing D's

    11 carries vs Chicago
    10 carries @ Minnesota
    24 carries @ NYG (for 108 yards)

AP vs the top ten D's

    22 carries @ Chicago
    28 carries vs Chicago
    18 carries @ Tenn
21 carries vs NYG (for 103 yards)

Deangelo didn't get nearly the opportunities to carry the rock in those games...averaging 15 carries a game and going over 100 yards and scoring four TDs in the game that he got his carries. Add to that he didn't fumble one single time in almost 300 touches vs AP's nine fumbles in 380 touches. When you add in the TD production (20 vs 10) it is easy to argue that DWill had a better year than AP.
