On the same day that the Carolina Panthers started getting ready for the 2005 season with the beginning of their offseason strength and conditioning program, other preparations for the new year also took place with the selection of the 2005 TopCats. The squad welcomes 35 cheerleaders following Monday night's final audition at Bank of America Stadium.
The selection concludes an intense 10 days of auditions, which began on March 12 with approximately 200 women trying out for this year's squad. Preliminary auditions were based on basic dance skills, physical fitness, presentation and showmanship. Semifinals consisted of performing a dance routine taught by TopCats choreographer Nicole Price.

"While we are looking for squad members who have a passion for the Carolina Panthers and the game of football, being a TopCat involves more than just cheering on the sidelines. They must also have the personality and poise to serve as ambassadors for our organization in the community," said Tina Dietrich, the Carolina Panthers cheerleader programs manager.

All finalists participated in an interview with the TopCats staff and attended rehearsals prior to finals. Last evening, they addressed a panel of judges and answered one philosophical question before performing an intricate dance routine.

Listed below are the 2005 TopCats, who range in age from 18-36 and whose careers are in a variety of professions, including banking, engineering and teaching. Congratulations to those who will help cheer the Panthers to victory and entertain fans at every home game at Bank of America Stadium this season.
