Our D line has seen very good O lines in Green Bay and KC. With Atlanta, we had to completely change the way we play in order to contain Vick. That part worked. We would have been fine in the Atlanta game if it wasn't for dumb penalties, and turnovers. I think our D-line is good...better than most. I would rather see us blitz often when we face Atlanta and leave our corners in 1 on 1 matchups. If we get beat deep, fine...we can go back to contain and play more preventive vs. aggressive. In fact, it seems the games that we play well in, our defense plays very aggressive. In the games we lose, we play more preventive. The games that I've watched Atlanta play(especially against Arizona), Vick had problems against the blitz.

We are a very vanilla defense...No wrinkles make for predictability. I don't care how much talent you put out there, if you're gonna play base schemes all the time you can offensively game-plan for that. Our defensive Coordinator mirrors our head coach. FOX SUCKS!

We held up pretty well against KC. We always play poorly against Atlanta. I agree though it is time for our DL to show something.

If Peppers is ever gonna live up to his massive potential it is time.

Agreed that they did a good job of preventing Vick from breaking out. However, Mora, Jr. and Co. gameplanned exactly for the Panthers D to do that, and they game planned to exploit it by having Vick throw quick passes and involving players the Panthers Defense would not be game planning for as much. Mora basically said as much in one of the interviews at the Falcons website.

Hopefully, the factors of two good offensive lines and trying to contain Vick in the other game have lead to the head-scratching results for the Panther D. I can't help but suspect, though, that this goes back to Trgovak (sp?). Yeah, he was the D-line coach under Del Rio, but this defense has not been quite as stingy as when Del Rio was here, I don't believe.

Well, if the season goes badly, perhaps it can bring a silver lining of getting a new Offensive Coordinator and/or a new Defensive Coordinator. I get frustrated watching other teams use clever game planning (not just against Carolina), and then see the plain jane stuff on both sides of the ball for Carolina.

I'm not saying that the season is a wash yet, of course, just reasons for concern and considering the possibilities.

And to think it was Gamble and Branch most were worried about on defense

Secondary has only given up 21 more total yards than the Panthers higher paid and more experienced front 7

not to mention branch's blunder that led to the long warrick dunn run. don't blame that one on the front 7 please.

well you compared the rushing vs passing yards. just making sure you noted a decent chunk of that rushing on dunn's td the other can be credited to branch.

get a grip guys, our O scored 10 fucking points in our losses and turned the ball over several times. Jakes trying to operate without an O line and you hate the coaches??? At least hate them because they thought they didn't need an O line. Reguardless of how you look at the D during the Falc game, it was the O that put the game away for Atlanta with the INT.
