Its hard on our defense when our offense can't move the ball out of the shadow of its own goaline in the second half.

Also, not have Rod Smart is going to hurt us on returns AND punt coverage. It blew today.

Must be because the crowd wasn't loud enough. Just ask Buckner.

The crowd kept getting taken out of the game. Be it the turnovers, the early Falcons scores, or the refs bailing out the Falcons on every third down, the crowd never really got going.

The loudest it got in there was when Vick got all pissy about getting touched by Short.

    3rd & 7, :49 sec, 3rd quarter, Atl 13-10

single back swing out pass to the right to Foster.

#79 Brzezinski RG, flowing outside with the play, engages the DL #75 and TRIES to pass him off to #71 Willig RT

#71 Willig is not flowing with the play, he's side shuffeling his feet sideways while facing the end zone like he's on a whole different sheet of music, and never picks up DL #75 that was passed to him.

Result: Foster is tackled and we punt.

If #71 Willig picks up that block, its 1st down.

It looks to me Willig didn't know the play... or, was actually doing his assignment, out of a different play than was called.

I'm not blaming the loss on Willig... just lookin' at tape and typing what I saw. One small snapshot.

    Go Panthers!

Willig is a fucking idiot! He jumps offsides when we're 3 & an inch and blows that momentum out of the water for a 1st down. And then he says that the Jake sacks were "not his fault". I just wish we had someone else to put in his place because his ass needs to sit on the bench.

Here is an exerpt from Gantt's column on what Willig said about the sacks:

Costly mistake — Panthers veteran right tackle Matt Willig made a huge mental mistake in the second quarter when he was flagged for a false start penalty on a third-down-and-an-inch.

The Panthers were backed up five yards and failed to convert on the following play and were forced to punt.

Add two more — Speaking of Willig, he said the two sacks Falcons defensive end Patrick Kerney tallied on Sunday were not his fault.

“He did have a couple of sacks, but they weren’t on me. That is beside the point,” Willig said. “You can look at it and say it wasn’t my guy, but the fact is we didn’t get it done. I at least felt like I was getting him a little frustrated.”

Kerney came in with an NFL-leading five sacks.

that, and the cheap shot on Smart when he fell down hurt. We weren't booing because the ball was on the 1.

The hate for Atlanta surpassed the hate for Tampa Bay last night.
