Are you saying that you see no difference between getting cut in the preseason, leaving via free agency, and allegedly quitting?

I think somebody needs to read the first post again.

yeah, I'm finding a hard time understanding what ka-zar is attempting to say. Unless he just started rambling about something.

Collins should've been benched. Capers screwed the pooch. Kerry likely just wanted to get reassurance and to be told that what he was doing, what the O was doing, was right.
However, he can still go fuck himself.

Did he set us back? Yeah. Anytime a "franchise" pick who has legitimately earned a supposed "lifetime start" finds a way to disenfranchise his own team time and time again, and then when the tough times hit he's in the coach's office crying that he doesn't want to be the one to blame for losses, yeah, that hurts.

We set forward with Beuerlein, so theoretically it was just "a wasted pick". But by that time, most of that team was damaged goods anyway.

That's not what I am saying. When you lay down on the job, any job, they need to get rid of your ass. What I was saying was that In my opinion there are other instances that have hurt the Pather organization as a whole then just Kerry Collins.

Letting Polian go, though there are some Colts fans that would gladly ship him back here. Hiring George Seiffert, wasn't a stellar moment either. (Though I am glad the Pathers did, the Colts were going after him as well.) When you have a QB who doesn 't want to play for you team, you have no recourse than to get rid of him. Remember John Elway? He refused to play for the Colts, he was going to play Minor leaque baseball insead? The Colts got for him what they could. It clearly hurt the organization, but I think that the Panthers have moved on from the Collins problem.

True. But unfortunately, you didn't really talk about those either. Please stop trying to compare Greg Favors to Kerry Collins.

We aren't hurt currently by Collins, no. Nor Gilbert, which was a worse mistake. And nothing can compare to Carruth as far as our image is concerned.

It's simple math, really. The Panthers had to get rid of Collins to usher in the Craig era.

P.S. - Ka'zar, don't be ignorant. Hiring Seifert was a strong move. The team was a positive for two years, despite injuries. There were more harmful things, including philosophy changes ordered by the owner and losing coaches, that led to 1-15. How he reacted to the last season was a major issue, but that he wasn't a good hire isn't something I can/will agree with.
I still find him to be a better coach than Capers.

Several things have set the franchise back over the years. Collins was a bad pick for several reasons-mechanics, immaturity, drinking problem, leadership skills to name a few. The Gilbert deal still ranks the worst move of all time. Then we also have the habit of giving away multiple picks for players we like and just plain bad evaluation of talent and that talent's overall draft value. Hell, Denver's screwed us three times already. Three picks for Emmanuel McDaniel? The picks for Lewis? Three picks for Manning when we could have had him at Seidman's slot a few picks earlier?

We'll benefit from Seifert's draft picks for years
