CHARLOTTE, N.C. - (KRT) - It's a safe bet the Carolina Panthers will be dropping their "Fan of the Game" promotion after Sunday.

An overzealous winner, dressed in a cat suit and calling himself the "Carolina Prowler," inadvertently inspired the Bucs' fourth-quarter comeback. Had the Panthers not rallied, the "Prowler" might have joined Cubs fan Steve Bartman in infamy.

Given a chance to speak on the stadium PA during a timeout with 10:19 to go, the "Prowler" called out Simeon Rice, who had guaranteed a win during the week, and Warren Sapp.

"I guarantee we're going to kick your butts," he shouted.

The Panthers cringed.

Rice immediately awoke with back-to-back sacks, his first two of the game, then pressured QB Jake Delhomme into an interception.

"Wow. That's all I can say about that," Delhomme said. "I don't know who he is, but my God. We have racehorses back home . . . maybe I can order a muzzle."

that was one fan's opinion. i think Gantt is probably the best Panther writer, but i don't agree solarte, i think Gantt has served up material that is gonna fire up ATL

 

i've been thinking about this, and how would y'all feel about a team we beat 7 out of the last 8 times? we hate them. i find it hard to believe they hate us. how can you hate a team you've owned. i bet they hate tampa. they've embarrassed us quite a bit, and while i'm sure they completely enjoy the shit out of it, we've got to win at least 40% of the games for this to be a real rivalry in their eyes. i really think this is a much bigger deal to us and our team than it is to them. which makes me hate them even more.

 

It's more of a hate between fans, atleast the fans in Carolina. A lot of folks in South Carolina pulled for the Falcons before the Panthers came along, and a lot still do. So you've got the neighbor vs. neighbor, coworker vs. coworker, family vs. family thing.
