actually, I think she handled it pretty well. And she did have a legit gripe--got burned 3 times on bad calls...

I didn't see the match... I just know she has always placed blame on something whenever she loses key matches. Seems like the few times she has lost to Jennifer she either has stomach cramps (left court one time for more than alloted time - and got away with it)... its always something... she has always felt the world is after her.

I'm also in question of her latest fashion blunders... I think maybe she has lost her focus and placed on "revenue generating" things... she knows she is on the decline in her career - don't get me wrong she will continue to compete well but I don't see here holding a top spot 1 year from now.

Also the article I read inidcated Jennifer received a bad call or two herself... "thats just tennis". ;)

The bad calls against Serena were flat out brutal. She was in command of the match, and she did say that the blown calls weren't the reason she lost. It was one of the few times that I respected the way she handled disaapointment.

So you sense a bit of what I am saying... she has a history of making excuses... right wrong or indifferent she has been full of "attitude" in her career. Her sister started out that way too with the paranoid chip on her shoulder... she seemed to mature a bit faster and handled things with grace a bit sooner.

a bad call or two??? How about 3 bad calls against Venus, which is a big deal in tennis. And she didn't complain much. She handled herself very well after being robbed of a match. Can you blame her for feeling the world is after her? Since she and her sister came onto the tennis scene they have repeatedly been attacked. Rememer John Mac's attacks on their skills? He even went as far as to challenge Serena to a match and claiming that several non-pro men could beat her. Their talent was once dismissed as only brute strength when they clearly have talent. It was also later proven that Capriati and Davenport hit even harder. You don't win Wimbledon off of strong serves alone anyway.

I do agree w/ you on Serena's fashion blunders though.

well... I just got a bad taste from both the young ladies early in their careers.. they were not the first successful "black tennis athletes" to win. Both of them carried chips and both of them made excuses early and often.

I like the elder Venus better than Serena now. I do recall that match I eluded to earlier where one of the Williams sisters took more than the alloted time for a "sick/bathroom" break only to throw off a dominating Capriati...

guess it all comes back around...

I'm not arguing that she got robbed, I'm just glad to see it come back at her as she has played more than her fair share of games with umpires and oppenents...

what is anyone's "fair share" of playing games with umpires and opponents? she's awesome. i don't think anyone would say she deserved this and i can't understand why you would say that.
