    I give up!:teeth:

The New York Rangers are reportedly interested in free-agent goaltender Kevin Weekes, however, despite some reports, the two sides have not reached a deal, according to the Rockland Journal News.
Weekes was not tendered a qualifying offer by Carolina, leaving him free to sign with another team.
The move would give the Rangers a glut at the goaltending position. Incumbent Mike Dunham is scheduled to earn $3.6-million this season while Dan Blackburn recently re-signed with the team and is scheduled to earn $825,000 this year.
Weekes earned $2.35-million last season in Carolina.
The Rangers also took Al Montoya with the sixth pick in the NHL draft, however, the 19 year old has said he will return to the University of Michigan for his junior season.
Weekes, a seven year NHL veteran, went 23-30-11 with a goals against average of 2.33 in his first full season as Carolina's starting goaltender. He teamed with Arturs Irbe in 2001-02 to lead the Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup final, losing in five games to the Detroit Red Wings

Doesn't matter who you have in net... you need some decent blueliners in front to help. Hopefully, Pock can help. But one guy doesn't make up for the other 5. And DON'T tell me how good Leetch is... cause he isn't. He hasn't done well since Zubov left. Should have kept him and let Leetch go.

Its a done deal, the Rangers signed Weekes today. The article says Weekes is suppossed to compete for the number one with Mike Dunham, and they have resigned top prospect Dan Blackburn. Two guys battling for #1 and a prospect about ready to step up seems like to many goalies to me. Anyone understand the logic?

No. I can't see why you'd take on 3 when the Wolfpack has a great goaltender and the Checkers just picked up Ayers. The only thing they can do with them is trade for other players. Knowing the Rangers trading style, Blackburn is gone. :teeth:
