GOOD NEWS: City of San Diego and the Chargers renewed their lease agreement for Qualcomm Stadium. The city no longer has to purchase tixs if they Chargers didn't sell at least 60k tixs per game.

BAD NEWS: The Charges can still leave town starting in 2008 if they don't get a deal cemented to build their proposed new stadium next to 'the Q'. Perhaps our West Coast TBR.com Bureau Cheif Rene can give us some details about this (if she can get to her PC :D :D !!!!!!!!)

I've been hearing a lot about this on the news and radio lately.. I really hope they can do what they are asking for because I can't see the Chargers leaving San Diego.. they might not be the best team, but our City needs them like we need the Padres.

I'm glad that they want to stay for the long term and that Mayor Murphy has been involved in helping them out. From what I understand it's going to cost about $400 million to rebuild it, adding a hotel, retail property, residences, and park land.. all of this without using taxpayer money :applause:

Also will be used for future Super Bowls, San Diego State Football games, and and the Holiday Bowl. San Diego would be loosing a lot of money had they not agreed to what Chargers were asking.. number one they would loose about $50 million, and one of our major corporations Qualcomm would have had to pick up and move to the East Coast, costing even more.

The Chargers hope to have a public vote for the new stadium by 2006 or 2008.
