Report: Iti to test NBA waters

Perfect timing for this... the Bloomin' Onion I airship from Outback Steakhouse is in Charlotte to fly over the golf tournament. I can see it happening Thursday night at the Outback on Highway 49, "Martin Iti Night!" He will be at the bar from 6-8 pm signing autographed boomerangs while drinking a Fosters (who cares if he's not 21?) as the blimp hovers over the University area.





I've got a lot of bad stuff going on in my life right now but I must say this has made me laugh all afternoon. Thank you Martin for the stress relief.

 

Being 7'0 will make him a prospect. That's about the only positive he has since the NBA has a fettish for big men.

vp, I talked to Bobby Lutz Monday night at length on Iti. He said everyone had told him late 2nd round at best and then only if he had a good workout in Chicago. The Observer story is something different from what Iti had told him. Bobby (on Monday) was fairly confident he'd return because if it was for money he wasn't going to be making big $$$. He said Iti couldn't play in Eurpoe yet where the pay is very good and that meant going back to Austrailia where the pros are paid far less but they are very offensive minded. So if you can't score in Austrailia, you don't play for them. Iti is not a scorer (yet), unless it's a dunk coming off an offensive rebound.

I think his US guardian thinks Iti is something special, evidently doesn't see too much basketball I suppose to know what talent it.

I was hoping Courtney Greenburg was going to follow Dingleberry to Clemson.

 

Kinda had a bad feeling about this from the get go. If it had been Withers, it would have almost felt legitimate that he was testing the waters. But, when a kid goes against the coaches advise and that of NBA scouts and the like, you've got to figure somebody who has influence over him is already in his ear.

On the plus side, we lost nothing but potential. He did nothing last year so it's not like trying to replace Rodney White. Incidentally, White did the right thing. He has been somewhat of a disappointment so far, but if you're a lottery pick, you fucking go, no questions asked. Not many of us will make 9 mill in our lives.

Back to Iti- wake up bedore you're sitting on the bench for the defending NBDL Champs, the Asheville Altitude.
