    FNZ will always be a non-factor until they up their signal strenght. They should have spent some of the coin they threw away on Packman and moved the station to the FM side

    I bet it is a question of egos

    Would Packman give up a half hour of his show when there was a Bobcat game? It probably wasn't a good sign when Packman's crew continually blasted the NBA game.

    Hmmmm, then the Canes have no home in Charlotte again :( :( . . . I wonder if they would approach WFNZ again to carry the games ? ? ? ?

    THE BOTTOM LINE: WFNZ drops the ball again :rolleyes: :rolleyes: . . . . I guess being the flagship station for Packman's 'media empire' is more important than being the flagship station for an NBA team . . . I wonder if preempting PRIMETIME for Bobcats pregame show was even a factor in WFNZ not picking up the Bobcats ? ? ? I'll bet you a $1 at some point, the issue came up [adlib] . .

    BOBCATS: Well, we will start our games at 7pm; OUr 30 minute pregame show would start at 6:30pm. Is that a problem with you guys ? ?


    DJ STOUT or Corporate Suits at WFNZ (or whoever was doing the negotiationg): What a minute, the 2nd Whiner Line runs from 6:25-6:35pm . . . Are you asking us to preempt that? We have to talk to/let Packman know about this . . . We'll get back to you guys and let you know


    BOBCATS: Hold on guys; I thought this would be a great deal for your station? I mean, being the flagship station of the Bobcats would increase your stations profile & your ratings . . .


    STOUT/CORPORATE SUITS: Yessssss, it would BUT PRIMETIME is the #1 show here in Charlotte. Folks would riot if we had to cancel the 6:25pm WHINER LINE for the Bobcats pregame show. Plus with the show's affiliates in Upstate SC & the Triangle, I don't think we would want to upset those fans either by ending the show 30 mins. early. You guys understand, right? Also, the fact that you want us to give you the time for those games for free vs. paying for it** is kinda crazy also. You know we make a lot of money off of DIAMONDS DIRECT & WILBORN AUTO BODY ad spots you know. There's no way we can give up that change, if you know what we mean ? ? ?



    **Reportedly, one of the major sticking points in the negotiations was that the Bobcats wanted free airtime to air the games on WFNZ while station bigwigs wanted the team to compensate them for it.

    Free air time for broadcast?

    I will just about guarantee you that MIX 106.1 didn't give free air time to get Bobcats. They are strictly pay for play.
