I had the opportunity to spend about 15 minutes with Bobby before the dinner honoring Jerry & Kitty Steele last night. We discussed Iti, the A-10 and the exhibition game situation. Thinks we're okay in the recruiting wars.

On Iti... he's still hearing second round pick, but also that Martin had told him he'd be back unless he was a first-rounder. The positive, Iti can see what work is needed to improve; the bad, he doesn't get drafted and goes back to Austrailia where the pro players aren't paid as well as in Europe and they expect you to be a scorer or you're gone. (We know he's an offensive power.)

On the A-10... Lutz is pleased with the mirror games of GW, Richmond and Dayton but would've liked to have Xavier in place of Dayton. Is concerned about travels in "the weather," since most C-USA schools were in the southern climates and winter snows were only potential problems at DePaul, Marquette and Cincy.

On the preseason... will go to South Carolina for a closed scrimmage, returning last year's game. Appealing to the NCAA to allow us to play Global Sports since contract was signed but not optimistic. Likely will host Pfeiffer as the D-II exhibition opponent, upset that these games will not give D-I programs the chance to have big men get a workout. Without Iti, expecting the 49ers to hit and run more than ever.

At this point Lane Odom walked up, followed shortly by the legend, Pino Pipes and Prentice Woods who both sat at my table for the dinner. Lane has continued to follow the Charlotte program closely and thinks Iti has made a huge mistake. Pino looks as well built as when he worn the green. Bobby joked of how as an assistant he was passing out meal money and Pino shook him off and said he didn't need it. Of course, he was making the big bucks as a bouncer and didn't need it. We all had a good chuckle from that.

That kinda cool. I like to see Queens or JC Smith in the future also.

i have a couple friends at pfeiffer who seriously no joke think pfeiffer is a better team than charlotte. i would very much enjoy them getting to see a 114 to 56 ass kicking, handed out by the niners.

queens is a solid team that would also make for a fun exhibition
