I love the Panthers and college fb, too. But, I don't bother trying to figure out who should go where and in what round...I know we need a WR, CB, and a Safety...What are the opinions of the more informed about prospects? I'm trying to get a guage now that the draft is at hand.

    Starting level needs
Cornerback - the most critical value need, and the need hardest to attain. We do have something there, but at minimum, need something that'll be ready to contribute next year; at best, need something better than anything we have.

Safety - less talent, but more value behind the first. Need something with more talent than we have, since half of the candidates for the position are strong safeties and the other half don't seem to have any instinct or play for the ball.

    second tier future needs
WR - not an immediate need, but something that does have to be taken care of. Proehl's really old, Muhammad only has one year remaining.

Offensive line - someone with versatility would be nice, for competition, but the longer need is at tackle, and right now one would suggest the depth need is there too.
Still, nothing we have at guard has ever been anyone's solution either.

Combination need: Need to find something of return value that can stay on the field. Baker showed he can return, but couldn't make the top of the list.

I like Michael Clayton the most but Michael Jenkins, Sean Jones or Will Poole would be good picks too. If the go WO first, I like Matt Ware second round if he's still on the board or Stuart Shwiegert(sp).

I think our need at safety is greater than corner. We have Wesley and Hawkins at corner and one will start while the other plays the nickle. Neither of them is overly talented or proven but are better options than what we have a free safety. Branch has almost no playing time and Tillman does not have much more. The rest of our safeties are strong safeties. Unless Branch surprises a lot of people we are going to be pretty weak at free safety if we do not upgrade.

I would like to see us add a free safety in the first two rounds. Jones or Ware would be a nice addition to our secondary. Most of the mocks have them going in the second round but before our pick. We might have to reach in round one to get Jones.

I certainly would not mind seeing us nab a corner. Strait would be nice or maybe Poole if he falls far enough. If we got Strait in round one and then traded up to get Jones in round two then that would be a good day one in my book.

I agree that we need wide receiver and OL depth. I think we need a quarter back to groom to so we can cut old man Peete. Those are probably second day things though. Colbert is a possiblility at wide out in the third round if he lasts that long.

I think it's funny how the national media thought our secondary was garbage last year, but when we lost those guys, they all said what a huge loss it was. I guess maybe from a continuity standpoint. I just don't think Manning and Wesley or Hawkins is no worse than Cousin and Howard. With that said, any first day picks in the secondary should be an improvement. I think safety is a bigger need than corner. I don't know if there's more than 1 first round safety and he'll be long gone by 31. If we want Ware or Jones in the second, we would probably have to package some picks to move up in the 2nd.

Cousin IS garbage! He was garbage when he played at South Carolina and he's still garbage in the pros. There are a LOT of SC fans that say that TC should've NEVER made it to the pros because he's so bad. And Gamecock fans NEVER EVER say anything bad about their players even when they do play bad during the season. So, if there are SC fans that are saying that Cousin is garbage, then he must be horrible.
