Scouting Report for Beckett from the draft.

2nd round pick from Marhall 2000. Great range. Beckett is a big, smooth athlete who hits with power. He is not proficient at man coverage, though he has improved his footwork and cutting skills to match up with tight ends and wideouts over recent seasons. He is a long strider and has some trouble changing directions. He has adequate recovery speed and is not ready to match up with slot receivers in three wideout sets as of now.

Got cut from San Diego after some problems with tackling, and some missteps in coverage. Sound like anyone we know? Does possess good measurables, which got him picked where he did, ahead of Grant in 2000.

Could be an emerging player. He's A LOT like Grant, hasn't quite been what Grant has become, but a cheaper alternative with upside.

Interesting though that they are considering a player so similar. Kind of throws a monkey wrench in that whole "smarter/less athletic" tradeoff some were speaking of.

yeah, sounds more like a "similar guy/less money" tradeoff. He does sound like he has some upside, and might turn the corner with help from this staff. Who the hell knows. Tillman was also a 2nd round 2000 pick no? I guess we're going to try them all.

Yep. Similar guy, just hasn't put it all together and is less athletic.

Wasn't benched last year. Perhaps you meant San Diego, which lost patience with him, benched him and cut him. Signed a one year deal with Cinci. Had his best year.

    Means more than Hawkins.

yeah, we all know that chemistry is the reason Dyson didn't make it on the field much last year, so maybe this will work out fine.
