    From Darin Gantt:

The Panthers aren't necessarily finished shopping for secondary help. Vincent's agent, Linda Bodley, said she had spoken with the Panthers in general terms about her client, referring to their discussions as "an open dialogue."

The 12-year veteran has been to five Pro Bowls, and made a point at the most recent one to campaign for the Panthers to be interested in him. Prior to Grant leaving for Jacksonville, that interest was never there.

If the Panthers were to bring him in, he might address their long-term need at free safety, although the short-term shortage is at cornerback.

Bodley said Vincent still believes he can play cornerback at an elite level for a few more years, but is open to moving inside to safety a few years from now.

"Kyle signed what is believed to be one of the better deals in the league for a long snapper."

an eventual move to safety would make me feel better about signing Troy Vincent to a 5 year deal.

I would hope/expect we'd have a young long term FS in place in a few years.

It sounds like he is looking to be paid as a corner but the offers he is getting are in the safety range. There is only a few million difference.
