we almost got the name right.

Carolina Sports Entertainment Television (C-SET). Close enough.
The article doesn't say which universe they will be aligned with for filler programming, both services have major operations here in town.

It's too bad that they are on the digital tier, because CSTV in NO is on the basic tier.

    Will folks with dishes

get the new network? How big a partner is Time-Warner in this deal? Will that hinder other people across the Carolinas from getting?

"If I say it costs me $5,000 to produce (a game) and it generates $7,000 in revenue, that's $2,000 profit," Johnson said. "I don't need to have big events; I need to have the right events that advertisers are willing to pay to televise."

$5000? Boy, we are going to see some cutting edge production on C-SET. This looks like one announcer, probably a Hogewood type, and 2 cameras with a kid and sharpie doing graphics.

$5000 dollar sports productions won't keep viewers or advertisers in this day and age.

    The short answer is no...

I think it has to do with an ownership position from TimeWarner Cable, the same situation as News14Carolina.

The reason for News14 Carolina not being available on any other cable systems in the region is the 50% ownership of Belo (WCNC Carolinas News Channel). Satellite unavailability has to do with a differentation point between a competing service.

Time Warner Cable systems in the Carolinas will pick it up first obviously . . . The Bobcats have several months to negotiate deals with COX, ADELPHIA, and other cable systems to pick up the channel. I thought I heard on PRIMETIME that getting on DISH NETWORK/DIRECT TV wasn't a immediate priority, which I think is wrong . . I say email the head of C-SET and tell her as a dish owner, you want it on Satellite ASAP :) !!!!
