Naturally. It's all about like and dislike. I think Grant put gum in his hair and checked his note "no" instead of "yes".

Hard to hear with all the tap-dancing.

Yeah, lets just keep the same players and not improve anywhere else on the team and see if we can win all the close games again.

Everyone said we needed depth at LB, we have it now. CB's were weak, why not try some new faces. Damn, nobody can be as bad as Cousins. Grant may be a big loss, but I don't think it'll be that big of a loss. I think we'll be all right, we still have a ways to go. Let's see what we do the rest of the offseason. We still have the draft to go as well. We haven't made too many boneheaded mistakes since Hurney and Fox have taken over. We could go back to signing Chuck Smith and Sean Gilbert. Maybe that'll make everyone happy.

Yep. That's exactly what we're all suggesting. Thanks for clearing it up. We're suggesting we overspend.

This is the dripping sarcasm. I try to keep outright humor off the football board so as to not confuse anyone.

excuse me Rez, but do you always come ranting and cussing? just wondering if that's just your style of if i should take it personal? and i suppose you should be in the FO?

sorry, but i really like the players from our team that they resigned. that offends you? too fucking bad. i won't rehash my arguments here in regards to Howard and Grant but i think you know my feelings there. Favors was a worthless LB so i see Jessie has a huge upgrade. The TE looks good to me and will improve our offense. Last year we started with Howard and Cousin at corners. We probably won't have the corners you and other criers here would like to see but I think they will be better than what we had a year ago. The safety position is worrisome but I'm not of the same inclination that it's such a heady position that a talented rook couldn't come in here a do a reasonably decent job with the promise of offering much more. I'm also not of the same inclination to assume the worst and that we will have to reach in the draft. I think it's almost as likely that a guy could fall to us that will fit one of our gaping holes (like Gross did last year). For that matter, maybe they really like one of the guys already on our roster. I did not see Witherspoon, James, Hoover, Moose, Smith, the DT that rotates with Buckner, or Magnum having the year they had (so much for my scouting talents). Based on guys stepping up last year I think it reasonable to conclude that they have a great offseason program going and there might be a player or two that they are penciling in to step up this year. I think it also logical that to conclude that the FO is not done and more help will be on the way and until we see the finished puzzle that we should cap our anxiety.

and you would have me trusting who instead of the FO that has a very strong proven track record? you? becuz you can cuss and rant with the best on them? my guess without wasting my time is that you also whined and ranted all the way up to the SB. but now we're this SB team that they are dismantling. despite the facts that we set some records for winning close games and in the last few seconds, you act like we could sit still and be promised a return trip because we were so much better than everyone else ... despite losing a guy to retirement and James to ridiculous money. Just my impression, but we overachieved last year and need to get better. I could be wrong but there haven't been many repeat SB appearances. The Raiders and Bucs both imploded this year after their SB appearance. I think that may occur cuz teams try to hard to hold onto their players and "fill" in the holes. My impression is that Hurney and Fox are trying to avoid sinking us in a black hole by overpaying for some guys that they are not all that thrilled with while keeping players that they really like ... when they can. The formula is a willingness to take some risk in the market when we are forced to do so to avoid hamstringing ourselves with the certainty of average, overpaid players. I can understand that that would not make any sense to you becuz it's not the popular thought, you can't put it neatly on paper, and you're too caught up in your bitching. It's fine. I know it's fun to bitch. You have plenty of support and even from some of whose opinions i highly value. Since it's really no reflection of you, I say have at it.

no, you certainly shouldn't take it personally. It's all fun and games to me. Don't get offended, it's just my style. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, I just don't think you get a free pass because you went to the super bowl and haven't made any big mistakes in free agency. This looks like that year though.

As to your guess about me ranting all the way up to the SB, you would be dead wrong. In fact, I've staunchly defended the team from the naysayers ranting about Henning, lack of a secondary, or what-have-you. I'm certainly glad you didn't need to "waste your time" checking any facts or anything before you wrote that dissertation.

And you obviously haven't read ANYTHING I've written if you think I'm an advocate of standing pat simply because we're a super bowl team.

I certainly don't see how you can equate Gross falling to #8 to starter quality for a need falling to #31. That's a stretch. Sure, we can get starter DBs there, mainly because of how the WR depth will push a lot of guys down.

Several other things I should respond to here, but I really don't have the time. There's a trend developing, and it's worrisome. I certainly don't advocate Howard and Jeno getting the money they got, but Grant got clean away. I'd certainly like to see the numbers on Hawkins.

I miss your point. It's now a bad thing to sign players that we think are good players and to get rid of players that we are not sold on? If we had kept Grant, James and signed one of the corners you are tooting the horn for, you would not see it as progress? You were the last to get behind the team this the year of their SB run. You bitched about anything and everything under the sun and never gave the staff an iota of credit for having a plan. So it's easy for me to see that you have so quickly returned to your familiar poison spewing doomsday gloriness.

You can gum it up anyway you want but we are still headed in another direction at safety, which just thrills the hell outa me. The guy was not a great safety and I doubt seriously will ever be one. I'd rather take a hit in the short-term rather than to have gotten stuck with his ass for the long-term.
