Seattle can trade Alexander and then replace him by trading their first round pick to the Vikings for either Bennett or Smith. I'm down with that.

Agreed. The Portis situation is particuarly mindboggling. You don't want to pay Portis a big contract, after getting him cheap, so you give 50 million to an older cornerback?

Yeah, I don't get that either, it's just a case of Shanahan's arrogance. Portis is easily one of the top 5 backs, probably top 3. I just don't see how you can give up your entire offensive identity because you're too cheap. Of course, their current DBs aren't much to talk about though. I guess Shanahan feels like they can just plug in any back and get the 1000 yards.

Fuck Shanahan, and Fuck Holmgren. They're both idiots if they even consider trading away their stud running backs.

I'd agree. Alexander is one of the best RBs in the league talent wise and never gets the ball. Trufant and Bailey would be sick.

Now its Portis for Champ that I'm hearing. How the fuck can Denver even entertain that trade!

The Seahawks already have their replacement for Alexander in Maurice Morris.

Extend his contract while it's still cheap, and draft a hard-nosed backup. They could replace Alexander easily, which says a lot for how he's misused. Look at who they went to Super Bowls with - Edgar Bennett, Dorsey Levens.
    Nothing special there.

Still, the ability to trade away both Ahman Green and Shaun Alexander in one's tenure at a team has to be some sort of strange record.

    S. Davis returns to Washington

    How about another idiotic notion?

Stephen Davis for Champ Bailey? This sounds about as dumb as Portis or Alexander for Bailey doesn't it?

I mentioned it and still dont see it as a bad idea. What the Broncos and Hawks don't have is Foster as next in line. How many years do you think it will take before Foster replaces Davis. I say two at the most. We would get Champ who is what, 25. He will be a starter for much longer than 2 years. Hell if we could talk them into a 2nd round pick to go with it then we could draft a RB for depth or whatever. I understand that Davis was the key to our offense and how the others are to them, but I think its just a matter of if you feel Foster can be that same guy, I do.
