Minter's a stud. Even more so if this is true.

One thing to remember about tackles. Someone has to lead the team in tackles. Obviously.
If you have a person in the secondary that leads your team in tackles, your team sucks, or at least, your D does.
You want, in most cases, one of your middle 3 guys to lead in tackles.

Witherspoon was first for the season, followed by Minter. Fields, as most have stated, would have bumped Minter down a notch, along with a healthy Morgan.

Barring injuries, next year this D will rock.

    Cooper has played some.

Theoretically, bringing him in for dime is a great idea. Hell, nickel against spread teams in non-obvious passing situations is a great idea.

But he doesn't play the part. He doesn't seem able to make plays down the field despite size, range, and instinct, he doesn't seem usable from scrimmage as anything but a blitzer. In that respect, he's badass.

If he were in a 46, he'd probably start. There you can be damn near undisciplined anyway.

    No, Cooper is no bum

    but he's no Safety either

I wonder if Cooper has played out of the LB position more than SS this season. He might make a pretty good LB in a 3-4 formation

A small as LB's are getting and as bad as Favors is...I am shocked we haven't changed him to #50 already. It's no doubt the guy brings it, he could give is another situational player. Stick him at OLB in passing situations and see what comes of it.
I like his skills, but he is more LB than SS...he was that even in college.
Your right though, he wouldn't be a bad fit for a 3-4. I just hope to see more of the 46 next year.

To temper one thing, remember that a lot of times the dime will line up as a linebacker. Toi Cook and Rod Smith each did it with Capers.
