Will be interesting to see what happens in Detroit in 2006...They could easily get 6 feet of lake effect during SB week....

Bottom line is that weather is not our problem, it is infrastructure. Charlotte needs to become a good convention town which would mean downtown and the surrounding areas need to be ice free regardless of the weather. I think in 10 years we will have the equipment and hotel space to make this a possible venue....I would rather have a SB infuse a boatload of cash into this town than to continue raising my property taxes!!!

From what Ive heard, we also need more hotel space in the Uptown/I-277 loop . . . . So how many WESTIN sized hotels do we need; 2, 3, 4  ? Also, we need to get our Mass Transit system up and running; The south line (light-rail) and the north line (commuter rail) at least to take the traffic off of I-77. Plus, a guarantee from mother nature that the weather will be nice here and a dome over BoA should seal the deal with us   !!!!

I can't wait until next year. Jacksonville isn't exactly a tropical climate in late January either (Normals 63/41). If it works there, then Charlotte, Nashville, and possibly Washington become options.

Mass transit could be easily set up with all the hotels. But Charlotte does not have the facilities to handle a crowd like that.

Travel weather is obviously a non-issue since Detroit is hosting. What's the big deal, put on a fucking coat and toboggan. The SB isn't about the fans, it's about the hype and money to be made. True fans will endure the weather, look at Green Bay, Buffalo, and New England. Domed stadiums should be banned.

True, but "fans" aren't the typical people who attend the Superbowl.

Jax is heaven on earth compared to this area. Hell you don't even begin to see ice in the median until you get near savanah.
