There was a story about my son Tyler in the Memphis paper Tuesday the day of our bowl game. Here is the link:

Bless you Kirk. To many dads find reasons to spend time away from family...

    Happy Holidays.

(a portion from Geoff Caulkins column everyone should read and honor "KPIGOUT" and Tyler!)

His daddy, Kirk, grew up in Memphis. He lived near the old Buntyn restaurant. He remembers waiting until halftime of games, when he could get in free, then racing over to the Liberty Bowl on his bicycle.

Work took Kirk to San Antonio. Fate gave him a son who requires all the love he can muster.

Tyler has cerebral palsy. He can't walk, talk or sit up on his own.

The last time Kirk spent a night away from Tyler?

"Never," he said. "I've never been away from him."

This effectively ended Kirk's days of zipping off to Memphis football games. He became a different sort of fan.

some people get so upset with such mindless and useless crap when it comes to their kids, such as what name brand clothes they need to have or how many xmas presents the kids need to compete with the Jones', but Kpig's son puts folks like that in perspective quickly. People should be greatful to have healthy kids, and more kids ought to be happy and greatful to be as lucky and healthy as they are.

Thanks guys. Having a child with disabilities really puts things in perspective. This is real life. Sports are just an escape. Whenever things get too bent out of shape, such as our little message board wars, Tyler brings me back to earth. Happy Holidays to all of you here.

Amen, Metro. My buddy who is 27 has a one and a half year old with his wife who has just turned 21. It's like he has two fucking kids. She's all mad cause he "only" spent $80 on the kid for Christmas. Better him than me.

    Merry Christmas backatcha, Kpig.
