When I boot up my pc, I get this:

TRAP 00000006 EXCEPTION.... and then some other stuff.

Before this, it would hang at the MEMORY TEST stage. I tried swapping current memory, which allows it to get past this stage SOMETIMES. I also tried booting w/o the video card and then booting again w/ it. I will boot then, but only far enough to get the above TRAP 00000006 EXCEPTION.... error.

Do you think it could be bad memory, a bad video card, or my whole motherboard may be bad? Also, do U think it could be a corrupt BIOS?

Also, is it possible for a BIOS to become infected w/a virus?

Thanks, I already tried doing that. It completed once. Then pc crashed again. this time, when I try to boot to CD to do the repair, it starts reading cd, then I get the original "BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH" message TRAP 00000006 EXCEPTION....blah blah blah error.

Brain, is there a way to correct a boot-sector virus?

    Thanks for all the help:)

I'm using Norton Corp Edition, I don't see any options to make a rescue disk. Any suggestions?

this is how to from 2003 Professional... I'm assuming it may be similar:

Rescue Disks can be created at any time. If you have chosen to create Rescue Disks as a post-install task in the Information Wizard, the Rescue Disk Wizard appears automatically. Otherwise, you can start the Rescue Disk Wizard from the Norton AntiVirus Professional Edition main window.

If you start the Rescue Disk Wizard from the Norton AntiVirus Professional Edition main window, temporarily disable Auto-Protect while you are creating the Rescue Disk set. If you do not restart your computer after creating Rescue Disks, remember to enable Auto-Protect again.

You will need several formatted 1.44-MB disks.

    To create Rescue Disks
    Start Norton AntiVirus Professional Edition.
At the top of the Norton AntiVirus Professional Edition main window, click Rescue.
If you chose to make Rescue Disks as a post-install task, the Rescue Disk Wizard opens automatically.
Select drive A to create the Rescue Disk set.
    Click Create.
Label the disks as specified in the Basic Rescue Disk List window, then click OK.
    Insert the disks as requested.
