    * Despite turning the ball over only 22 times this season, the Panthers have a -6 turnover ratio. This is because there are only three teams in the NFL with fewer take-aways than Carolina, which has 16.

    * Quarterback Jake Delhomme is fourth among NFC quarterbacks in average gain. Delhomme has completed 188-of-327 passing attempts for 2,379 yards for an average gain of 7.28 yards. Delhomme also ranks fourth in fourth quarter passing with a quarterback rating of 87.1 in the final period.

    * Running back Stephen Davis has rushed for a team record 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns on 270 carries. If he can continue at his current pace, he will rush for 1,715 yards.

    * Wide receiver Steve Smith has a career-best 65 catches for 848 yards. He has more catches than Isaac Bruce, Terrell Owens, and Joe Horn, among many others. Smith also has six receiving touchdowns.

    * Punter Todd Sauerbrun leads the NFC in gross punting and net punting average. His gross average is 46.0 yards per punt, while his net average is 37.8.

    * Defensive end Mike Rucker is tied with three other players for the most sacks in the NFL with 12.

    * The Panthers are ranked fourth in rushing offensive and eighth in rushing defense in the NFL. Overall, they rank 14th offensively and 15th defensively.

    * Carolina ranks second in both returning and covering kickoffs in the NFC.

    * The Panthers have the second lowest touchdown percentage in the red zone in the NFL at 37.1. Only Baltimore is worse at 36.8.

    * Defensively, the Panthers have only allowed opponents into their red zone 27 times. Only Dallas is better with 26.

    * Carolina's opponent this week, Atlanta, ranks 30th in the NFL in offense and 32nd in defense.

    * The Panthers are 5-3 in their 13th game of the season. This includes a 13-10 win over Indianapolis in their inaugural season of 1995, a 24-0 victory over Tampa Bay in 1996, a 33-31 win at Green Bay in 1999, a 16-3 victory over St. Louis in 2000, and a 52-31 win over Cincinnati last season

Panthers are also tied for 14th (out of 16) NFC teams in red zone efficiency. Those are two very telling stats. I rest my case.

The ONLY state that means ANYTHING is

the W or L in the win/loss column.
Statistically, we beat Philly. But the win/loss tells the bottom line! And we have had other games that were the other way....they kicked our a$$es but we had the W in the W/L column!
The players and fans need to look at each game and not focus on the playoff picture.
    A) take care and focus on the game you are playing, then the playoffs will come.
    B) We can ONLY control our little piece of the game. Worrying about that team beating another is wasted effort. We, even the fans, need to do what we do best and do it well. If yelling and screaming is your forte`, then do it, even at the TV for the away games or those you can't make.
    C) There IS NO I or U in team. That is something way too many players seem to forget. (fortunately few of ours this year have forgotten) We snicker at those on other teams who seem to think THEY are better than anyone else. We all have our favorites to laugh AT don't we??!
    D) 'The buck stops here' as far as your performance.

Interesting how much better our offense and defense got statistically during our 3-4 run.

Tank, without going back and checking the stats, I imagine we would be near the bottom most years. We've always had problems scoring touchdowns. We rode John Kasay's foot to the playoffs in 96.
