I think that this is a good one -

We are pleased to announce that Sports Radio 610 WFNZ will be simulcasting “The Morning Sports Page” and “Primetime with the Packman” on 1660AM, a 10,000-watt signal, effective Monday, December 1, 2003.
“We are very excited to be able to give our listeners a chance to hear us throughout the metro area. It is amazing what we have been able to do with 610 AM and the additional frequency will only enhance that success,” said DJ Stout, Operations Manager for Sports Radio 610AM & 1660AM WFNZ.

In the 10am – 3pm Midday time period, WFNZ will give listeners two options: 610AM will continue to air “The Tony Kornheiser Show” & “The Dan Patrick Show” and will carry ESPN Radio at nighttime and weekends. On 1660AM, “The James Brown Show” will air 10am – 12noon. Following James Brown will be “The Peter Brown Show,” from 12noon – 3pm, both are syndicated by Sporting News Radio. During the evening, Monday through Friday, 1660 WFNZ is proud to have “The Papa Joe Chavalier Show, along with regional play-byplay. On the weekends, 1660 will, again, offer different play-by play broadcasts, and Sporting News Radio.

The station has enjoyed great ratings success over the past few years. WFNZ’s morning show, “The Morning Sports Page” has grown quickly and has been ranked in the top five for three consecutive rating books in the station’s target demo of men 25-54. WFNZ’s afternoon drive program, “Primetime with the Packman,” has been consistently ranked in the top five for the past five years with Men 25-54. The 1660AM signal will help WFNZ reach all seven counties in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill Metro.

I didn't even know there was a 1660 AM. I thought they were going to announce they upped their signal and are getting the rights to the Bobcats' broadcasts... We need Dave Jagelar on there doing the PBP...

    "That was Absolute GARBAGE!"

No Savio, your wrong . . . Only if they had announced the Bobcats Radio deal would I have done that ;) !!!!!!!!!!

I just heard this 20 mins ago on the way home from the Central YMCA . . I was scanning the dial and heard Sporting News Radio on 1660AM; I thought for a second that WFNZ had finally gotten some competition!!!!!! But then I heard the ad with DJ Stout announcing the simulcasting deal on 1660AM and the programming setup (ESPNRADIO from 10am-3pm on 610AM, SPORTING NEWS RADIO from 10am-3am on 1660AM and PAPA JOE after that).

Still, will this be enough juice for WFNZ to be the flagship home for the Bobcats  ? ? with this setup, I still think they are going to need an FM blowtorch for most folks in the surrounding counties to be able to catch the games . .

The Brand New WFNZ.com Website . . It actually looks pretty good :) !!!!!

Infinity Broadcasting has been sitting on a Contruction Permit to move 1600 WGIV to 1660 for a couple of years. They had to do it now or lose the CP. All stations in the so called 'Expanded Band' (1610 to 1710) are 10,000 Watts during the day and 1000 Watts at night.

I guess this is good news......sounds like they traded in a Yugo for a Hydia to me.

How much more will 5000 watts give you?

they need to put the Steve Czaban Show at the 7pm spot. I listen to him on XM and he's just as good as he was when he was here w/ Penner.
